Using TaqMan SNP genotyping technology, the genotypes of 13 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the FBLN5 gene were examined for correlations with PEX in an Indian cohort of 200 controls and 273 PEX patients. Kidney stone disease (KSD) treatment with shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) is a long-standing procedure, now experiencing renewed favor thanks to its minimally invasive attributes and favorable outcomes, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our investigation aimed to evaluate the impact on quality of life (QoL), specifically using the Urinary Stones and Intervention Quality of Life (USIQoL) questionnaire, following repeated extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (SWL) treatments. Enhanced understanding of SWL treatment and a reduction of the existing knowledge void concerning individualized patient results in this field would be possible.
Those patients afflicted with urolithiasis and treated with SWL therapy from September 2021 until February 2022 (six months) comprised the study population. During each SWL session, patients were presented with a questionnaire encompassing three major sections: Pain and Physical Health, Psycho-social Health, and Work (appendix provided).
